Description

CES personnel have provided the overall environmental consulting services for several active central Illinois truck-stop facilities since 1996. The facilities included a total of forty-three (43) UST systems, which were associated with nine (9) leaking underground storage tank (LUST) incidents. CES provided total turnkey operations on the projects, consisting of UST system removals, UST abandonment-in-place, UST/Piping upgrades, tank testing, release detection testing, cathodic protection testing, new UST design/construction management, and AST removals. In obtaining closure of several of the LUST incidents, CES’ investigative and remedial activities encompassed Early Action, Site Classification, Site Investigation, TACO Risk Assessment, Corrective Action Work and LUST Fund Reimbursement.

CES personnel provided total liaison between the Client, IEPA and OSFM to satisfy the many compliance issues associated with the UST systems. Corrective Action work at each of the facilities included groundwater remediation and the remediation of several thousand cubic yards of petroleum-contaminated soils, all of which was completed in a manner so as not to interfere with ongoing business operations, and to assure that Client was fully eligible for reimbursement from the LUST Fund. During the completion of this work, CES also assisted its Clients with the transitional issues associated with sale of the facilities, and continued to service the ongoing LUST incidents with the new property owners.
